Almost 800 acres of vineyards dot the landscape here supplying fruit to 15 local wineries. Grape varieties grown include Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. 

The official Red Mountain AVA is located about 210 miles from Seattle and contains 18 wineries.  They are located just north of Benton City, WA at the east end of the Yakima Valley AVA and just west of the Tri-Cities.

Red Mountain, one of North America's smallest appellations, became an appellation in 2001.  It is also one of the warmest sites in Washington State
