Chateau Ste. Michelle is Washington state's oldest winery and is one of the largest producers of Riesling wine in the United States. The winery also produces wines of other varietals and some experimental wines on a per-year basis. Ste. Michelle has a number of joint ventures with winemakers such as the Eroica Riesling with Dr. Ernst Loosen of Germany and the Col Solare Winery with the Antinori family of Italy.
They are best known for their Eroica Riesling. Other varietals include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, CHardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer.
The Chateau is situated on 105 wooded acres in Woodinville, Washington, 15 miles northeast of Seattle. It was built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery's roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition. They offer guided tours of the winery and the estate as well as tours with a master gardener around their historic grounds. Chateau Ste. Michelle also offers private tours and tastings and tasting at their second estate, Canoe Ridge.
